Cupboard Maker Books does not buy used books! We do however trade for store credit. We ask that you bring no more than two books or bags of books per day. We send what we can't take back with you. You are then given a slip that you can use on up to half of your used book purchase. Please note that Cupboard Maker Books may refuse any trades for any reason

We absolutely accept book donations! We ask that you limit donations to ten boxes or bags per day. We only accept clean books for donation and are unable to take encyclopedias

We are able to accept any form of Tap to Pay (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Etc.) As well as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

Nash, Odin, Annika, and Princess Buttercup are permanent residents of Cupboard Maker Books! They almost always have an adoptable friend who is looking for their forever home. You can normally find the adoptable cats in the cage near our recommendation shelves. We have helped over 300 cats find their forever homes! Check out Loving Care Cat Rescues website below

Cupboard Maker Books is open 361 days a year. We close for Christmas, New Years Day, Easter, and Thanksgiving. We usually stay open if there is bad weather, as we have to come in to feed the bookstore cats. We close early, at 5:00 P.M., on Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day.

We love our community and try and help out whenever we are able! Due to the high volume of requests we have been receiving, we now ask that everyone fill out our donation request form (linked below). At this time we are only able to give donations to organizations that align with the stores mission. If you do not receive a response to your request, we wish you the best but will be unable to donate at this time.

Yes, we host local fiction authors for signings and stock books by local fiction authors.

We only buy books from adult fiction authors that we have hosted for book signings.

No, we never charge authors for book signings at Cupboard Maker Books. We do expect you to sell your books to us at the wholesale price.

We schedule more than one author for most of our book signings. We have found this is a great chance for authors to network, and that is makes it easier to engage potential readers.

In order for authors to be scheduled for a book signing, they must first attend a free class that we hold quarterly for authors new to the store. After taking the class, our event coordinator will work with the author to schedule them for a suitable book signing. This is for FICTION AUTHORS ONLY.

The free author class is held on the fourth Sunday of January, April, July, and October from 5 to 7 PM. The free author class is held at the store in Enola, PA.

One of the following criteria needs to be met to be exempt from the class: the author is published by one of the top five New York publishers or the author is a regular member of a Cupboard Maker Books book club. We strongly recommend that authors attend the class even if they are exempt as it is a great way to learn from both our staff as well as the other authors attending.

If you used generative AI in the creation of your book, including the writing of the book or creation of illustrations and/or the cover, we will not stock your books or host you for a signing. We support books created by humans and love to lift up the creativity and skills of human made art and writing. In the future, if you publish a book without using generative AI, we would be happy to discuss seeing you be a part of the Cupboard Maker Books community. If you are dishonest about your usage of generative AI, even if you publish a book without using it, you will not be welcome to future signing events.
